HitBTC fake website
Researchers have discovered that an individual(s) created the website hitbt2c.lol, which is designed to look like the genuine website of HitBTC, hitbtc.com. The scammers encouraged cryptocurrency traders to connect their wallets or deposit digital assets onto what they thought was a legitimate exchange. If users followed the instructions, they would inadvertently send funds to the scammers’ addresses instead of a genuine exchange, and the funds would be lost. MistTrack was able to locate four blockchain addresses that the scammers used to receive funds from unsuspecting users, and these wallets accumulated over $15 million worth of cryptocurrency during their existence, according to the researchers’ estimate.
