We tracked down Reddit user u/WarmBiertje who spent months working on making RCAX.io possible. He initially developed a price alert service called “snoovatars.com” which allowed users to create customized price alerts and receive real-time notifications. “Around the same time, Reddit user u/michael_web launched a website called RedditFloor.com. This simple yet elegant site displayed all avatar floor prices, proving to be incredibly useful to avatar traders and collectors. However, RedditFloor had one drawback: the data was sometimes significantly delayed due to its reliance on data scraping.”, WarmBiertje explains.
History and future of RCAX.io
Given that he had already built snoovatars.com as a real-time price alert service, he decided to take it a step further. Goal was to create a real-time model of all avatar (price) data. This marked the beginning of RCAX.io. WarmBiertje started working on snoovatars.com and subsequently RCAX.io in October last year. First as a pet project, but then after realising the potential of these avatars, he started working on it full time.
When asked about future of RCAX.io, WarmBiertje commented: “I have many plans for RCAX that are already in development! Thanks to the amazing r/AvatarTrading and r/ConeHeads communities that have fuelled me with ideas and feedback. The closest thing to releasing will be the iOS app, that will hopefully release in June without any hiccups”. RCAX.io is already available on Google Play Store.
